    More sad news for the Kinkade family. Thomas Kinkade’s autopsy results are back and drugs and alcohol were indeed responsible for the ubiquitous artist’s untimely death. The family originally insisted the passing was due to natural causes but the autopsy revealed "acute ethanol and Diazepam intoxication" were actually to blame. The first benzodiazepine, chlordiazepoxide, was discovered accidentally by Leo Sternbach in 1955, and made available in 1960 by Hoffmann–La Roche, which has also marketed diazepam since 1963.
