White-nose Fungus May Have Killed 6.7 Million Bats, Could Trigger Extinction
nydailynews.com 3 weeks, 6 days agoA peculiar fungus is to blame for the deaths of as many as 6.7 million bats, and could even trigger the creatures’ extinction, biologists say. The die-off was announced by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service on Tuesday, and is five to six times higher than a count from 2009, startling scientists.
