Uninspiring By Design
washingtonpost.com 6 days, 7 hours agoLast week I was looking at a pile of smartphones I’d recently been given to review. The devices were virtually indistinguishable from one another. Slab after slab, no keyboards, no color. Just black blocks with shiny touch screens, maybe a few buttons dotted along the side. Some had fake metal rings that wrapped around the body of the phone, a kind of mimic of the iPhone’s metal antenna. Some went for a matte finish instead of high gloss. ISO Civility In Online Comments
washingtonpost.com 2 weeks, 6 days agoThe Internet is full of awful people saying awful things to each other. At least, that’s the impression you’d get from reading most comment sections of most Web sites. From site to site and topic to topic, comments are consistently a black eye. Despite years of attempts to massage, curate, coax and moderate, the unbridled “discussion,” the Internet still seems mired in the kind of discourse best reserved for a bar brawl.
