Paschim Vihar is an upmarket posh residential colony in Delhi, India. It falls under Punjabi Bagh subzone of West Delhi. Located in the western part of Delhi, Paschim Vihar mostly comprises housing complexes, bungalows, and some commercial complexes. Settlements here started around late 1970s and 1980s, thus is a relatively old and green area. It is divided into 2 parts by the Outer Ring Road. The eastern part has the pin code of 110063 and had mostly been developed by the DDA. However the western side has the pin-code of 110087, and here huge sects of land was allotted by the DDA to group housings. These, then made roads and erected other essential amenities by themselves and allotted plots to members. Most of the bungalows of the areas are in these group housings only. Plot sizes here ranges from 164-500 square yards, with 200 being a common size. Prices are in the range of about 1.2l/sq. yrd. Post 2008, following a change in MCD rules, the concept of a builder floors here has really took off, where these bungalows are being converted to 4-floor building in which different floors accommodate different families as against other bungalows which are one-family dwellings. The land developed by DDA has no such bungalows or builder floors. It only has apartments. A large chunk of the population is Hindu and are Punjabis and Jats. However the relocatement camps and nearby villages of Nangloi, Mangolpuri, and Sultanpuri have considerabe Muslim populations. Similarly Guru Harkishan Nagar on the Western Side has a significant Sikh population. There are two mosques in the area and several temples. Almost each of the group housing on the Western side has a temple within it.
