She is the CEO and chief designer of her design and marketing eponymous brand product marketing company, kathy ireland Worldwide, headquartered in Rancho Mirage, California. Many sources inaccurately portray the company as a retailing business; however, according to forbes.com the firm is a design and marketing company, which also acquires real estate for wedding and design studio purposes. As such, the core business of kiWW is licensing and real estate. Despite her work as a model and actress in the 1980's and 1990's, Ireland's core activities have been in brand licensing since the early 1990's. Her Sports Illustrated work brought substantial notoriety and fame, however all independent reports and information about kiWW suggest that Ireland has been predominantly earning the majority of her income from brand licensing and real estate since the mid-90's.
