    Prosecutors have filed animal cruelty charges against the owner and seven employees at a Southern California livestock auction house after undercover video shot by an animal rights group showed workers kicking, hitting and tossing the animals as they were readied for sale.

    Grains futures mostly rose in early trading Friday on the Chicago Board of Trade. Wheat for July delivery rose 13.50 cents to $6.7650 a bushel; July corn rose 9 cents to $5.8750 a bushel; July oats were unchanged at $3.05 a bushel; while July soybeans rose 5.25 cents to $13.8125 a bushel.
