Stocks Close Higher On Earnings, Jobless Claims
suntimes.com 3 weeks, 5 days agoStrong corporate earnings reports and the lowest unemployment claims in almost four years pushed stocks higher Thursday. The Dow gained 45.03 points to close at 12,623.98. The S&P 500 added 6.46 points to close at 1,314.50. Both averages are at their highest since July.

And since a quarter of states' budgets come from federal funding, more problems are on the way. But the hope is that the days of crippling budget deficits are at an end.
